Aneury Tamarez, will be joining Your NuHorizons Board of Directors. Mr. Tamarez is the M&T Bank Branch Manager at theCanastota Branch. He's been with M&T for 6 years. He states "I love what I do, and it satisfies me to see people meet their financial goals. I am originallyfrom the Dominican Republic, came to the US when I was 11 years old and grew-
up in Brooklyn NY. I was a Dominican who played baseball during my early stages of life and decided to give soccer a try. I then fell in love for the beautiful game of Soccer. Today soccer is the reason of me being where I am today. I owe
so much to this sport. Soccer was my motivation to go to college, where I attended Morrisville State from 2014-2018. I acquired a Degree in Business Administration and a Concentration in Marketing. Today, I am part of the Catalyst group of Utica, and I am joining Your NuHorizons to be more involved and give back to the Canastota Community.

I have spent 6 years here at M&T and my favorite part about my job is helping both businesses and individuals set them self-up for a better future. I have had the opportunity to meet many new people along the way and treat every interaction as a chance to learn something new. Today I am Vice President and Co-Founder of the NLD Foundation. A Foundation that for the last 7 years, has provided Academic Scholarships and assistance to individuals in need throughout the Rome Community. I also sit on the Board of Directors for the Rome Industrial Development Corporation

NuHorizons Redistribution Center Program

2023 - in Review - 2024 Goals

2023 Results

During 2023, 1,072 individuals and families in need throughout Central New York. (Madison, Onondaga, Oneida, Cayuga, Oswego, Herkimer, and Otsego counties) were provided with free essential items.  In 2023, Nuhorizons also continued to expand the number of  community organizations we work with as described below.

2024 Goals -  As our outreach continues to expand with the help of our nonprofit partners, we currently estimate that the Nuhorizons Redistribution Center Program will, if adequate resources are available,  serve over 1,500 individuals, children, and family members in need throughout Central New York during 2024.

Community non-profit Partners

Nuhorizons has developed ongoing working relationships with other area nonprofit organizations who share our mission of helping those in need. These collaborative efforts assist the Nuhorizons Redistribution Center Program in distributing a wide variety of free items to those in need. To date, Nuhorizons has worked  with the following organizations. Staff from many of these organizations have toured our warehouse and at times accompany those in need to our warehouse. (although not a requirement):

  • Liberty Resources

  • Community Action Program for Madison County, Inc. (CAP)

  • Catholic Charities

  • Pathway Wellness Center

  • Rome Rescue Mission

  • The Center Utica

  • Healthy Seniors – Oneida Health

  • Oneida Central School District

  • CNY Veterans Outreach Center

  • Madison County Department of Health

  • Onondaga County Department of Children and Family Services

  • United Way of the Mohawk Valley

  • Bassett Medical Center (Otsego County) – Healthcare Network

  • NYS Department of Family Assistance

  • Oneida Central School District

  • Workforce Development Board - “Working Solutions”

  • ARISE

Our community nonprofit partners continuously inform us that we are filling a ‘gap’ in needed services to those in need. For example, often an organization may help with housing needs, but do not have the discretionary funds to provide the wide assortment of free items available at our warehouse.

Financial Supporters include:

  • KeyBank Foundation

  • The Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties

  • Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation

  • Canastota Rotary Club

LATEST NEWS

Your Nuhorizons, Inc.  (“Nuhorizons”) is pleased to announce we have secured a financial commitment to  commence operations of our Nuhorizons Redistribution Center Program on August 1,2021.

The Nuhorizons Redistribution Center Program  will provide an assortment of FREE essential items to individuals in need throughout Central New York.

Covid-19 has produced a recession where those living at or below the poverty line have been affected the hardest and have all they can do to supply their families with life’s essentials (shelter, food, and clothing). Further those attempting to rebuild their lives and start over (such as victims of domestic violence, individuals recovering from substance abuse, returning citizens and the homeless) are further challenged.  Adding to the financial stress is higher cost of food and products as well as the higher utility bills due to spending more time at home. Individuals leaving shelters, rehab centers, half-way houses and transitional living facilities in many cases do not have (nor the funds to acquire) basic products and everyday items. According to the most recently published reports from the U.S. Census Bureau website it is estimated that 124,547 individuals are living below the poverty line representing over 14% of the residents of Onondaga, Oswego, Madison, Oneida, and Herkimer counties.

Nuhorizons has aligned itself with a national organization through which products will be acquired by Nuhorizons and shipped to our warehouse in Canastota, New York from which  Nuhorizons will distribute products free of charge to those in need.  To help in the direct distribution to the needy, we will align ourselves with other charitable organizations that can assist Nuhorizons in the direct distribution of free products to those in need.

Nuhorizons Executive Director Stephen Bodnar stated, “We are excited to launch this program to be able to help those in need throughout our community. We anticipate having a wide range of free products including clothing and footwear, household products, toys, baby items, health and care, sports, electronics, and school supplies. If any local organizations would like to help us in the free distribution to their clients, please contact the Program Distribution Coordinator Kaitlyn Carpenter at yournuhorizons@gmail.com.”
